In local gyms and large chains across the country the Zumba® phenomena has
reached just about every corner of the world. You probably have seen smiling men and women alike in bright clothing, lining up to take this class. Maybe you’ve even considered trying it out, if you have great I’m here to tell you why it’s a great idea, if you haven’t yet you will after I show you how taking Zumba® can transform your fitness experience, oh and make you look fantastic in the process. At the Dr. P. YMCA located in Central Florida, Orlando, members line up an hour ahead to get a good spot in class! Our classes’ house anywhere from 60 to 120 people at one time! It’s a Zumba® Party for sure! Come check us out!
Here are 8 GREAT reasons you need to try your local Zumba® class immediately:
CARDIO: People!!!! Get ya Cardio on! We all need to do it in order to loose
or manage our weight! You can walk or run miles or dance Why not ditch
the treadmill and Dance, Zumba® is a fusion of many styles across the
world, so you can burn hundreds or thousands of calories doing what
people pay to do in a club! Most of my students say to me…it fun…I forgot
I was working out.
FUN ! : There is a reason that people have been dancing as long as there
is music, IT”S FUN! Lose yourself and find yourself in music of popular
songs all while, you may even find yourself singing along!
ENDORPHINS: Exercise produces endorphins, these have been shown to
fight depression and greatly improve mood, if you’ve ever come back from
a night of dancing feeling like you’re on cloud nine without having had a
drink…lol… then you already know what Zumba® is like! SO, grab some

THE MUSIC!: The music you’ll listen to is easy to get lost in, often instructors
will use popular Latin songs with driving beats you’ll find yourself lost in
the moment, and out in the world busting out Zumba® moves when the
songs come on the radio! I LOVE Latin Music!
THE PEOPLE!: Zumba® people are generally a happy social group in our
family center YMCA. That’s why their smiling even while you’re sweating.
You’ll find great people who love to do what you love, to dance to sing
and to enjoy others company while doing it. It becomes like a family and
support groups. Lifelong friends are made! At the Dr. P. YMCA family
center we are ALL like family!
You Don’t have to be Latin! : ESOOOOO! Zumba® does not discriminate!
All backgrounds welcome. In Fact! I am of Italian Decent. And Yes,
I can dance! Lol!!! We are a melting pot of sorts in our Dr. P. YMCA.
EVERYONE is WELCOME to DANCE! The Latin music is contagious!!!!!
Learn to Dance: Zumba® is a dance class, no pro dancing needed! Or
EVEN if you’ve never danced in your life, Zumba® can teach and show
you how. The moves are easy to learn and if you keep coming soon your
friends will wondered how you learned your mad dance skills! Just follow
me! I tell all of my students this..It may take a few weeks, but your brain
WILL CONNECT! And before you know it..You will be dancing!
The RESULTS: There is a reason dancers are in shape! The moves you do
in Zumba® focus on the abs the hips the booty; trim and shake it at the
same time. It’s not uncommon to burn up to 1000 or more calories in an
hour long Zumba® more while burning the calories you will be toning the
abs the hips the legs the booty, I know I said all that earlier, but seriously
who doesn’t want these to be sexy while burning calories? WEPA!!!!!
Ok! Soooooo…As you can see…There are lots more reasons to take a

Hi, I’m Michele Siebecker and I am a certified (ZIN) Zumba Fitness Dance Instructor at the Dr. P. Phillips YMCA in beautiful Orlando Florida. I love teaching Zumba® classes! It is my passion for you to love dance, as I do. Zumba® gives you a great workout, yet you feel like you’re at a party! Come join me and you’ll see what I mean. You don’t even have to know how to dance. Just move your body and follow my lead. It’s soooo easy!
The people and members in my class range from of all ages… 8 to 90! We inspire each other to journey through life with Faith, Fitness Dance and Fun! Body, Mind and Soul is our motto and mission. This creates an environment for students to encourage each other! In addition to the fitness and dance experiences that will make you dance and sweat, lifelong friends are made and we have a BLAST!
Along with Zumba® classes we have recently recently added “Senior Dance Party” to the mix, designed to be at a bit slower pace than the regular classes. Senior Dance Party has the same emphasis on dance moves such as salsa, meringue, cumbia, Hip-hop, along with 50’s, 60’s, 70’s 80’s and 90’s throw back songs with easy-to-follow steps and a party atmosphere. It’s a dance party!
We also feature Zumba Toning® with Kimberly! DANCE… Using lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone… all the target zones, including arms, abs and thighs. Zumba Toning® is the perfect way to sculpt your body naturally while having a total blast. Sculpt your body to the rhythm of music and dance!
Zumba® classes use the same methods as aerobic and interval training, incorporating high levels of activity that can burn more than the average number of calories. The amount of calories expended, however, does vary by individual and their intensity and fitness levels. The classes also provide a “high level of feeling good and while building self esteem and can create a positive self-image. People say they enjoy my class because they’re having so much fun, they don’t even realize they’re exercising! As I tell my students, the harder you work the more calories you burn. For 60 minutes we are in our DANCE ZONE.
Remember, Zumba is not about learning routines or steps perfectly. We are simply burning calories, clearing our minds, strengthening our bodies and feeding our souls AND having FUN doing it! I try to keep the routines repetitive but fun, as well as technically correct. Moreover, correct and proper technique in dance should be always demonstrated by and through the instructor. The end result is that you are maximizing your calorie burning efforts and not constantly worrying about learning new and complicated routines with two counts. No matter your age or your ability, I hope to encourage you to do what you can, while enjoying beautiful music, freeing your mind while burning calories.
